Family Photos and Late Holiday Cards

A couple of weeks ago my friend Emily snapped some family photos for us (Arizona people, contact her via her website- she's the best!). It was a super rainy morning so I was unsure of how they would turn out, but as always, she managed to somehow, someway capture beautiful images. She always takes the best pictures of Henry too and captures the happy, fun spirit he has, even when I go into the session unsure of how she'll even get one good one. He wasn't in the best mood that morning, and if you know anything about three year olds, you know that family pictures and a bad mood do NOT mix. But yet again, Emily worked her magic and took some photographs we will cherish forever.

I was VERY late on ordering our holiday cards- does anyone else feel like this month is going by way too quickly? So I took advantage of Tiny Prints' express shipping. And even though I ordered on Friday, our cards are due to arrive today! Right now Tiny Prints is offering 25% your entire order (use code SW1217), which is the best deal ever. Add in rush or super rush delivery and you can have your cards tomorrow or the next day. I chose this Christmas card, but I also love these two.

I'm always the kind of person who has their cards stamped and ready to go by December 1st, but at least with Tiny Prints I can be a bit of a slacker and still get the job done. Thanks a million, Tiny Prints!

Plus One

Yes...that's a baby! Come this August, we will be a family of four!

I'm 13 weeks along, and Hank, Henry and I are just bursting at the seams with excitement and happiness. My talented friend Lauren took these photos of us a couple of weekends ago in an old, historic building downtown that was just at the beginning of its renovations, and it's been so difficult for me to keep from telling all of you the good news until I could share the photos. I've had babies on the brain, and some of you may have even guessed what was coming; it's hard holding in news this good!

There's so much more to write about, but I'll keep this first post short and sweet. For now, I'm just so ecstatic to finally share this news! Now who's ready to get excited with me over little tiny baby things, Henry as a big brother, and this sweet summer baby on the way? So, so happy.

Family Photos in Sedona

After Emily Snitzer took some 2-year photos of Henry and our little family, I couldn't resist booking her one more time to capture some of Sedona's beauty in the Fall. I'm kind of obsessed with family photos, but they're not always the easiest thing with Henry being almost two, and always moving and playing. Trying to wrangle him enough to sit down for a shot can be close to impossible but yet again Emily managed to really capture him and us, and I will forever and ever cherish these photos.

Emily is based in Phoenix but will travel anywhere, so if you're interested in booking her for a session, a wedding, an event, whatever, be sure to get in contact with her. She is a truly talented photographer and I can't express enough how blown away we are with her beautiful work.

She still has some spots left in November for her mini-sessions (perfect for holiday cards and family gifts!), so if you're in Arizona or surrounding areas, contact her and treat you and your family to some amazing photographs. Be sure to tell her I sent you, and be sure to send me the link to your photos in her blog once they're up- I would love to see them!

Thank you so much again Emily, you are a magician! If you're interested you can see the rest of the photos here, and thank you to LuLu*s for sending me this adorable sweater- I love it.

Henry's 2 year photos

With Henry turning 2 next month and time picking up speed everyday, we thought it would be a good idea to get some professional photographs done to capture this stage of Henry's life. And "capture" is pretty much the perfect word to describe shooting photos with a toddler. Henry is already a very rambunctious little guy, but add in a new person holding a big camera and asking him to sit still, and you've got a recipe for possible craziness.

We enlisted Emily Snitzer, a long time mutual friend and amazing photographer, to try and "capture" some pictures of Henry, and maybe a few of us too. When we started the session we weren't too sure what to expect- H. was running all over the place and it was hard to imagine Emily being able to get any photos at all of our wild man. We had periods here and there where Henry would stop for a second and pause long enough to smile, but for the most part he was on the move! At the end of our time with Emily I was a little nervous that she maybe didn't get enough to work with, but those thoughts were put to rest when I got the pictures back. WOW. I can't say thank you enough to Emily for the photos she took. She managed to truly capture the essence, the attitude, and the sheer joy of Henry at this age. I still don't know how she did it, but she did, and I am forever grateful for these pictures of our running, laughing, smiling son.

Emily is an Arizona-based photographer who does all kind of photography and photo sessions. She's really, really great at what she does and I love her aesthetic- light, bright, and so airy. I highly recommend her to all of you, and especially to those of you with small children, who can often be so tough to shoot. She's really amazing.

Right now Emily is doing November mini-sessions, which is perfect if you want to shoot some photos for a holiday or New Year's card. She also does weddings, engagements, newborn shoots, families, graduations, events, you name it. Be sure to pop by her site and say hello!

And finally, here are some photos of Henry (and a couple of us) from our session. Thanks again Emily! :)
