Weekend Wrap-Up

Untitled

1 // Charlie already has his two bottom teeth but is working on more, and we are in the thick of teething all day, everyday. Like Henry, his major symptom is a stuffy, very runny nose so it's been uncomfortable for him to eat too. Poor baby. It's so hard seeing him in pain.

2 // On Friday we had a little (cauliflower crust) pizza party with my friend Jana and her two boys. I'll share the recipe we used later this week, but I will say that it turned out SO well. I was expecting it to be good, but I was surprised with how delicious it actually was.

3 // The end of the weekend always leaves us with leftover produce from the week before. I'm still getting the hang of figuring out exactly what to get each week, and although meal planning does help with that sometimes we just aren't in the mood for something we planned for. So in the past things have gone to waste. Lately though we've been using almost everything, and on Sunday we'll cook up some random things to use up the last of our perishable stash. Delicious and fun, too.

4 // Our weekend started off with ThaiFoon takeout on Friday night. We haven't gone out to eat or ordered out in what feels like forever so it was a nice treat to get dinner from one of our favorite places. Hank and I are such homebodies that the perfect date night for us is curling up with good food and a new movie on the couch while the babies sleep. So fun.

5 // On Sunday I woke up at 9am (!!!) to the sound of everyone playing in the front room. Charlie had woken up at 6am and ate, and I put him back down to sleep. When he woke up again at 7 Hank got him and ended up taking care of the boys until I woke up. It was SO nice to get some extra sleep. It's crazy though- Charlie has been waking up in the night (usually 1 and 4) due to teething so no matter what I always feel like a zombie. Even with the extra sleep I still don't even feel close to caught up.

6 // Yesterday we headed out on a little walk. It was a beautiful day- not a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining. It definitely got me in the mood for spring. I can't wait!

I hope you had a great weekend too. I'm excited for this next week- SPRING BREAK!

Weekend Wrap-Up (on a Wednesday)

Untitled

1 // Veronica hosted the cutest little Valentine's party for little ones. We had a blast, and left in a total sugar coma. This was the cake she served- SO good. It was a triple layer, fruit infused masterpiece and it made me happy that days like this don't come around too often. I eat healthy a lot of the time, but I will never (and can't ever) say no to something like this!

2 // On Friday afternoon Jana and I took the boys to Lappert's, a little custard spot that just opened in the next town over. It was a fun treat and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the grilled chicken salad I ordered. I didn't try the custard (still over-sugared from that cake!) but Henry really loved it.

3 // Sisters and babies. It's very cool to have my best friend home with her babies doing the same stuff I'm doing, at the same time. Now if only we lived in the same place. We took this photo Sunday after while at the park at my parents' house. It was 75 and sunny- best weather ever.

4 // Speaking of best friends, on Saturday I got to have brunch with two of my oldest friends to celebrate Erin's birthday. We went to Luci's Healthy Martketplace in Phoenix I was pleasantly surprised. Great, healthy food and a cute atmosphere. Plus, I had the best company. You know those people that know you- really know you- and remember all of the stages and phases you've been through? Hold onto them. These are those people for me.

5 // Lucy and Charlie at breakfast on Sunday morning. They were born just 7 months apart and I love watching them together. And can we talk about sassy little Lucy for a minute?! She kills me.

6 // Sunday dinner at my parents' house. I live for it. This plate was chock full of goodness- filet, shrimp, kale salad, and some more veggies.

I hope you had a great weekend too...although we're already halfway to the next one!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Untitled

1 // Around 5pm Henry will start peeking out the window, waiting for Hank to get home from work. As soon as he sees his car you can hear the loudest "Daddy's hoooooome!" from any room in the house! It's really the best time of the day. And even though Hank has worked all day long and is tired, he gets right down there on the floor and is Super Dad until bedtime. This was Hank and Henry on Friday- building for hours!

2 // You win some, you lose some. I made the Coconut Loaf from the Sprouted Kitchen cookbook tonight (this month's cookbook pick) and although it baked well, it was not my cup of tea. Very bland while being very sweet, if that's even possible. Oh well! Tomorrow I plan on making her soba bowl with tea-poached salmon which sounds delicious.

3 // The boys are just starting to play together now that Charlie is reaching and grabbing for things, and Henry is ecstatic. I keep telling him it's only going to get better as he gets bigger and bigger but it's pretty cute how he thinks this is already so much fun.

4 // Our friends David and Jeannie got married on Saturday and had a super low-key, super beautiful reception at their home. Afterward Hank and I couldn't stop talking about what a great day it was- I really think that they did it right- good friends, good food, in a comfortable location. We had the best time.

5 // I've been running a lot lately, and I talked a bit on my second IG account about pushing yourself to get out of the door, even when it's hard (like it was for me on Friday!). As hard as it is sometimes I try to remind myself that I never regret when I do...but I always regret when I don't.

6 // Charlie babe. He attended the wedding with us on Saturday (his first!) and looked so cute while doing so, in these fabulous red moccasins. He's getting so big and I can't believe he'll be 6 months old next week.

I hope you had a great weekend too! xoxo

Weekend Wrap-up

Untitled

1 // This little babe is getting bigger by the day- he's already 5 months (post coming later this week). He's discovered his toes and it's the cutest thing ever to watch him roll around. Although I have to add I'm not quite yet ready for a mobile baby.

2 // After indulging in way too much sugar and sweets over the holiday I've been enjoying getting back to the basics and cutting out most of the crap. Not all of it, because sometimes a girl just needs an ice cream cone- but most of it. It feels good to just eat clean foods and feel good about what I put in my body. Hank, Henry and I enjoyed a few glasses of kale, spinach and apple juice this weekend and loved it.

3 // Bedtime routine- bath, brush teeth, book and bed. I shared on Instagram that we put our kids down early (6pm for Charlie and 7pm for Henry) due to their habit of rising before the sun, and really enjoyed hearing about the different routines and bedtime other families partake in. Some do a much later bedtime, which made me wish ours was a little later too in the hopes that maybe then they'd sleep in past 7am!

4 // One of my favorites parts of every weekend is having Hank home to do all the fun daytime parenting stuff like going into the boys' rooms when they wake up from their naps. Just look at that smile!

5 // Hugo's for lunch on Saturday. I have a fun post coming tomorrow talking more about this but we took Charlie to Hugo's for the first time and he enjoyed it, as much as a person can enjoy going to a Mexican food restaurant and not eating. Although I guess he doesn't yet know what he's missing, right?

6 // DIRT! We had 10 tons of dirt/top soil delivered on Friday morning for our backyard and Henry was in heaven. The huge pile has since been spread over the half of our yard that will have grass planted but he had a ball playing in it while it lasted. Little kid heaven, for sure.
