Currently.
Reading: I'm just finishing up The Spectacular Now and I'm so happy I saw the movie before I read the book. I actually enjoyed the book at the beginning, but the two versions of the main character- the novel Sutter and the film Sutter- were very different, and I really couldn't get behind the book's take on him (even though I guess that's actually the real Sutter). The movie made him so much more likable, and in turn I found myself rooting for him. They did the same thing with Amy, and I while reading it I was engaged because of the movie. It was a little strange for me because I almost always like a book much better than its film version, but this time around I would watch the movie anytime but never pick the novel up again. Next on my list: one and two.
Eating: This past week was a slow week in the world of my cookbook project, but I have four recipes to make this week and I'm excited to try them out. I've also been on a major Quest Bar kick. Have you tried them yet? Hank and I love them, and I usually eat one a day as a treat. For what it is they're super healthy, and have a whopping 20 grams of protein, a lot of fiber, and very low sugars (usually 1-2 grams depending on the type). My favorite flavors are the chocolate chip cookie dough (put it in the microwave for 8 seconds and it tastes like you're eating the real deal!), apple pie, and cookies and cream.
Thinking about: Henry was supposed to start preschool this week but because of President's Day he'll start next Monday. So I now have six more days until my baby is officially a preschooler. Crazy. Also, our pediatrician is closing her practice in a couple of months and I'm heartbroken. It's so sad when you really love a doctor (or teacher or anyone who becomes a part of your life) and then things change. I hope we can find another one we love just as much.
Listening: I've had Kacey Musgrave's album "Same Trailer Different Park" on repeat for a couple of weeks and I can't get enough. I hadn't ever heard of Kacey before the Grammys but became intrigued when I heard her live. I also can't deny the allure of those light-up boots! ha. She's awesome though, and I really enjoy both her fun, light-hearted songs and pretty voice. Great music.
Watching: Scandal. This show has been recommended to me so many times by so many people but for some reason I just never got into it. The other week Hank was at band practice until late, I had finished up any reading I wanted to do, and the boys were both asleep. I decided to treat myself to something on Netflix, and this was the first thing that popped up. I decided to finally give it a whirl and WOW. Right from the get-go I was hooked. It's really a great show- wonderful writing and that the character of Olivia Pope is amazing. I adore her! Does anyone else watch it? I'm just catching up on Season 3, I'm on episode 4. I haven't been watching too much else besides my favorite shows here and there (Nashville, etc.) and I'm still not watching The Bachelor. To be honest I'm not sure if I'll watch it again. This season was way too dumb and I just can't justify spending two hours of my life on it! From what I've heard the consensus is the same, although I do have some friends who are still loving it. Are you watching it?
Loving: all of you who take the time to read my posts, to leave comments, tweets, messages, emails, etc. I appreciate all of you so much and you make this blog such a fun place to share things that I love. I can't thank you enough for being a part of my daily life.
p.s. I'm over at Maiedae today, sharing a bit about being a Mom. Head on over to check it out!
So, how about you? What are you up to today? Feel free to do your own "currently" post on your blog and link back in the comments for everyone to check out. And thanks again to my dear friend Megan for providing the original inspiration for these posts.
